Important Announcements and Links
Today we celebrate Veterans Day! Thank you to all that have served our country in the armed forces. We are grateful for every veteran’s sacrifices and commitment to our country. We pray for continued protection of our servicemen and servicewomen, as well as for their families.
It’s been a busy few weeks at SCC. As we prepare to give thanks for our many blessings, please be sure to encourage your teenager to study and read each day. Progress reports for the second quarter will be sent home on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Students should make every effort this weekend to complete all outstanding assignments.
I hope you are all enjoying the beautiful autumn days as the holidays approach. We ask for your prayers as we continue to form our students within the mission and traditions of St. Charles Catholic High School.
Thank you for your cooperation and continuous support of SCC activities!
Courtney P. Millet, Ph.D.
This Week at SCC
Our weeks are always full here at SCC! This week, we honored our Principal's List with off campus lunches at La Carreta's--a special treat for those students with all A's!
We also celebrated our seniors with their annual Senior Day of Recollection at St. Charles Borromeo. This SCC tradition is a day for seniors to remember their first few years together as they begin to look toward their final few months of high school, surrounded by guest speakers, their favorite teachers, and many prayers.
We had a special day on campus as our SCC senior Madison Hebert signed to play softball with Southeastern Louisiana University where she intends to study Kinesiology.
Our Student Council met this week to welcome the newly installed 8th grader members and begin their plans for the Spring.
And finally, our Traveling Art Exhibit began our focus on cross-curricular learning, this year using Leonardo DaVinci as our inspiration point. This Renaissance genius's work will help us to understand where art, engineering, science, and religion connect, helping us to appreciate the interconnectivity of God's creation.
Thanksgiving Food Drive
As we continue to rebuild our hearts and homes, know that our SCC faculty, staff, and students continue to pray for you! We truly are Stronger Together. Together we move forward with confidence. Together we celebrate our lives. Together we trust in our God, and together we worship Him and keep His commandments.
Mindful of His greatest command to love one another, and in anticipation of the Thanksgiving Holiday, we are excited to begin collecting food for those in need.
We are asking each student to bring one item and have color-coordinated with each grade:
8th Grade - (ORANGE) canned sweet potatoes or canned oranges, peaches, etc.
9th Grade - (GREEN) canned peas or green beans
10th Grade - (RED) canned cranberry sauce or canned beats or tomato sauce
11th Grade - ( YELLOW) canned corn and boxes of mac and cheese
12th Grade - (BLUE) canned soup and tuna
Food is being collected in each Religion Class.
Please bring all items by Monday, November 15.

NCEA LEAD, Learn, Proclaim Award Nominations
The 2022 Lead. Learn. Proclaim. Award nominations are open. This year’s theme for the award is heroes, answering the question: “How is this Catholic school educator a hero in your community?” This award highlights the outstanding work being done in Catholic education communities across the country.
A hero can be a person who performed heroic acts – perhaps keeping school open safely throughout the pandemic or finding tuition funding to help families or making sure the Friday all-school Mass stayed a priority. And a hero can be the person who inspires others – teachers, staff, administrators, students.
The 90-second video nominations are due by February 5, 2022 for principals, presidents, heads of school, pastors, and teachers who are currently employed and have served in Catholic school education for at least five years. For more information on nominating a “hero” from your school, please click here. Please reach out to Annie Smith at email@example.com with questions.
