Student Life Announcements
This week marks one year that our lives, schools and communities were affected by the pandemic. So much has happened since we were mandated to stay home last March, and looking back, we realize that it has been quite a journey. We have been creative, innovative and focused in our work to ensure that student learning continued.
While we never imagined that our community would still be feeling the effects of COVID-19 one year later, we also never imagined how much our school would accomplish given these challenges. Our teachers and students have been absolutely awesome, focusing on learning and making the most of every class. We're so proud of our Comets for their dedication and growth so far this school year, and we're certain that the fourth quarter of school has much more in store for us to celebrate!
Dozens of our teachers have received the COVID-19 vaccine. This is a big step as we all journey towards the return to more normal times while placing our trust in Christ as we continue our journey through this school year.
We are proud that we have kept SCC open for our students with high quality teaching and learning taking place each day. We refused to allow the pandemic to sacrifice education because we know that the generation we educate today will be our leaders of tomorrow.
Thank you for continuing to support St. Charles Catholic High School as we work together to ensure that our students reach his/her own God-given potential. We are excited about our upcoming College Readiness and Faith Formation Day on March 19.
Registration for the next school year is underway. Please take the time to register your Comet before March 17 in order to take advantage of the $425 registration rate. Completing registration now reserves a place for your teenager for the 2021-2022 school year. This registration also allows us to plan appropriately for the number of students we can expect next year. Please do your best to complete the registration process and payment this weekend.
Please be sure that your teenagers prepare for exams this weekend. They should spend time on both Saturday and Sunday studying, reviewing notes, and checking google classroom and plus portals.
Baseball, softball, tennis, and track and field are now in full swing! Please come out and support the Comets during this beautiful spring time. We wish them the best of luck!
During this season of Lent, let us remain focused on deepening our faith through daily prayer. With all that is unfolding in our community and world, we can be easily distracted. I pray that you look forward to your daily conversation with God. Let us try to encourage one another as we walk with Jesus during Lent.
Take care, and may God bless you and yours,
Registration for 2021-2022 School Year
Registering and class scheduling for St. Charles Catholic High School are to be completed online by March 17.
On Monday March 1, 2021 , parents should have received an email from St. Charles Catholic High School (firstname.lastname@example.org) that allows you to access your student portal and register your Comet. This email includes a specific link to your child’s registration information. You must click on this link to register your child for the upcoming school year at SCC. If you haven't received an email from SCC with your child's specific registration link, please call the school's front office.
Students received a 2021-2021 registration packet with important items including registration information, a scheduling worksheet, and financial information.
The SCC registration window will be available through March 17, 2021. To secure your placement at SCC, online registration and scheduling must be completed through the school website, and the registration fee of $425 must be entered and paid through the FBT tuition portal website by March 17, 2021.
Early registration allows us to better plan and prepare for the next school year. Please note that course requests for students who are officially registered for the coming school year will receive priority when schedules are created. We look forward to serving you again next school year!

College Readiness and Faith Formation Day
7:45 - 12 noon
March 19 is a day designated for special events for our students.
All 12th grade students will attend their senior retreat at Camp Abbey. This is an annual tradition at SCC where seniors reminisce on their high school years and invite God to guide their journey after school.
All 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students will attend faith formation and college readiness skills classes as we continue to practice our mission of forming the whole student in a Christ-centered environment.
All 11th grade students will participate in The College Playbook seminar. This seminar will take place at the First Baptist Church across from SCC. Students will park at SCC in their usual spots and walk to FBC. The seminar will focus on the college application process and how to set up their senior year at SCC for college success. Students will also learn about time management, goal setting, and creating healthy habits from a Mastery Prep expert in the field.
CRS Rice Bowls were distributed during religion classes. Please fill these “bowls” with coins and bills in order to donate to Catholic Relief Services. CRS ministers to families in need all over the world to provide food, education, and shelter. Our small donations make a big difference in the lives of strangers and our big donations can change lives for years to come! All Rice Bowl money must be turned in by Tuesday, March 30th. Your religion teacher will give you more information in class.

Service Hours Reminder
All SCC students are required to serve a minimum of 15 hours of service in order to pass their Religion class. Many students have begun to turn in and complete their service hour requirements which are due at the end of the third nine weeks - March 19, 2021.
Please be reminded that because of Covid-19, there have been revisions to our service program requirements. Unlike in the past, students are now allowed to perform tasks such as:
Assistance to an individual person, e.g.—babysitting
Yard work for neighbor
Caring for grandparent
Grocery shopping for a grandparent or elderly neighbor
This can ONLY count for service hours if no monetary compensation was received. This is not an exhaustive list. Any project not on the approved list must get prior approval to be used for service hours. Any service hours done for an organization in BUSINESS FOR PROFIT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
The religion department is currently doing outreach to different organizations in the River Parishes to inquire if any Covid friendly service opportunities are available. If you’re a member of the Comet Family and have an act of service that you would like to offer to our students, please contact Ms. Chiasson at email@example.com

Baby Pictures for Senior Athletes
As you know by now, it has become an SCC tradition to have a senior slide show as part of our All Sports Awards Night. In order to keep this tradition alive, it is imperative that you help us out by sending a toddler photo that is in good taste to Mrs. Lowry so that we can begin processing them for the banquet. Please submit photos by Wednesday, April 14. Mr. Zeringue already has copies of your sons and daughters as seniors so there is no need to send one of these. We will take photos with the name and age written on the back, but prefer digital files (.jpg) via email if possible. Please include the athletes name in the subject line. Please send to firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and support in this special event.
If you have any questions please email or call Tricia Lowry at 985-652-3809.
*PLEASE NOTE: THESE PICTURES ARE TO BE USED FOR THE ATHLETIC BANQUET. DO NOT CONFUSE THEM WITH OTHER BABY PICTURES BEING REQUESTED FOR OTHER PURPOSES. THANKS!
