Comet News - Thursday, January 7
Thank you for your focus on learning as you returned to SCC this week.
Due to the significant increase in COVID-19 cases and positivity rates in our three River Parishes (all over 10%), as well as the predicted cold/wet weather for this upcoming Monday, we are forced to double down on our efforts to stop the spread of the virus. The health and well-being of all members of our school community remains a top priority. In addition, we recognize the importance of in-person learning as vital to our students’ faith formation and academic growth. It is in this spirit that we have decided to remain in the blended learning model for two additional weeks.
We will continue to practice social distancing, mask wearing, health screenings, heightened sanitation in the classrooms. All of these efforts are conducted out of love for our Comets as we seek to keep you safe and healthy as you continue to learn and develop here at SCC where God is working and molding us all each day.
Thank you for being courageous during these unprecedented times. On behalf of the faculty and staff of St. Charles Catholic High School, we wish all members of our Comet community a blessed, holy, and happy new year. May 2021 be a year filled with blessings for everyone as we find a way to end the COVID-19 pandemic. May God continue to bless SCC, our state, our country, and our world.

While the circumstances we face continue to change rapidly, creating a set of meaningful goals can help ground and motivate us as we move forward with the school year. We will set our goal on returning to traditional learning for January 25, 2021.
We're so excited to all be back for the next semester of the school year. it is truly a blessing to have each of you as part of our Comet Family, and we're so proud of all you have accomplished so far this school year. Keep it up, Comets!
As we return for a new semester, please take a moment to reflect on your goals for this new year spiritually, academically, and personally. The choices you make today can help to direct you toward greater success tomorrow. Please reach out to us about any way in which we can assist in your pursuit of success this school year, and invite the Lord to inspire and counsel you as to what He wills for the days ahead. May God bless you and your families, and may God bless the Comet Family.

Reminders about Carpool Procedures
Please see this excerpt from the SCC Student Handbook about carpool drop-off and pick-up procedures:
"In order to expedite traffic flow in the mornings and afternoons, a traffic plan known as COMETFLOW is in place, which assists in this matter. Comet flow directions: Any vehicle coming from the east on Dominican Dr. should enter the east entrance and proceed to drop off just past the Memorial Tower. (Five vehicles can let students off at once if the first vehicle pulls up to this point.) Any vehicle coming from the west on Dominican Dr. should enter on Rue DuBourg and use the rear northwestern entrance and proceed along the western parking lot to let students off just past the delivery doors to the cafeteria."
Once the student arrives on campus, he/she may not leave the school grounds without permission from a teacher or administrator until school dismissal. This also pertains to students in detention. In the afternoon, students are to wait for their rides in front of the Commons—they are NOT to hang around the front entrance. All car riders must be picked up daily by 3:30 p.m. SCC does not offer after-care. SCC staff will not be on campus to monitor social distancing after 3:30 p.m. It is imperative that all car riders are picked up by 3:30 p.m.
