Dear Comets,

What a great time to be a Comet! Although our school is a buzz of activity during these December days, it is important that we pause daily to pray that we may be the Light of Christ in our world today. May this season of grace hold many special blessings for you and your family!

Congratulations to our coaches and football players on their big win and for leading our Comets to the upcoming championship game on Monday, December 28 at 3 p.m. We will send out ticket information as soon as the LHSAA passes that information on to us.

We are so blessed to be part of such a wonderful blue and gold school community. On Saturday, we had parent volunteers installing our flat-screen TV in the conference room, refurbishing our front flowerbeds, and decorating our hallways in blue and gold!

We’re not letting Covid or the Grinch steal our Christmas joy at SCC! Our first ever Comet Christmas was a hit! In preparation for Christmas, we invite you join us in praying the “O Antiphons”. The “O Antiphons” are prayed for 8 days in preparation for Christmas (December 17-23). For those familiar with the Liturgy of the Hours, these are the antiphons used with the Magnificat each day. You may want to read the antiphon for each day, and reflect on it throughout the day. This is just one way that we can prepare for Christmas.

December 17
O Wisdom of our God Most High,
guiding creation with power and love:
come to teach us the path of knowledge!

December 18
O Leader of the House of Israel,
giver of the Law to Moses on Sinai:
come to rescue us with your mighty power!

December 19
O Root of Jesse’s stem,
sign of God’s love for all his people:
come to save us without delay!

December 20
O Key of David,
opening the gates of God’s eternal Kingdom:
come and free the prisoners of darkness!

December 21
O Radiant Dawn,
splendor of eternal light, sun of justice:
come and shine on those who dwell in darkness and in the
shadow of death.

December 22
O King of all nations and keystone of the Church:
come and save man, whom you formed from the dust!

December 23
O Emmanuel, our King and Giver of Law:
come to save us, Lord our God!

May God bless you and your families! Be assured of our prayers during the seasons of Advent and Christmas.

Our plan is to return to school on January 4 in the blended learning model. The Blue Group will report on Monday and Wednesday. The Gold Group will return on Tuesday and Thursday. We will have a faculty meeting on Friday, January 8 from 8-9, followed by teacher office hours, remote faith formation at 11, and teacher department meetings from 1-2.

We will return strong on January 11 in the traditional learning model with every Comet on campus!

Wishing you advent blessings and a wonderful week as we gear up for the State Championship game! We wish you and your families a joyful and peaceful Christmas.

Hope to see you in Natchitoches after Christmas for the big game!

Go Comets!

Sincerely,
Courtney Millet
