News from Campus & General Announcements

What a Second Week of School!

In the midst of the current challenges and anxiety that so many are experiencing right now, let us continue to keep each other in prayer and care for one another in all ways possible.

We live in a world of uncertainty, but Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). May his peace be with us all and remain with us now and always.

We look forward to welcoming our Gold group to school tomorrow, Friday, August 28, 2020 for a full day of learning.

Our testing schedule is as follows:

Off-Campus Days Reminder: Live classes on off-campus days will begin on Monday, August 31.

All students should be in a quiet spot at home when joining the Google Meet for synchronous learning.
Students should not be in a bed and should be properly dressed in an SCC shirt when logging in.
Should a student encounter problems logging in to their class's Google Meet, they should email the teacher and call the school to alert them of the issue.
Cell phones should not be used during class wether at home or on campus.
All rules regarding student behavior are still applicable to online learning; students should not seek to disrupt the class or be inappropriate in any way while online.

On-Campus Days
Please be aware of these important points:

School starts at 7:30 a.m. Cell phones should be off and stored in your schoolbag.

Neck gaiters are not part of the SCC approved face-coverings in the Student Handbook. Only face masks are acceptable, and they must be worn inside the building at all times.

No students are allowed to come inside the building before 7AM. This will allow for staff members to be present and provide health screenings upon student entry.

Students are reminded that they should have clear water bottles while on campus that can be refilled at our bottle-filling stations.

We appreciate your patience and support!

Labor Day Week

The schedule for Sept. 7 – Sept. 11:
Monday – Off
Tuesday – GOLD DAY
Wednesday – BLUE DAY
Thursday – GOLD DAY
Friday – BLUE DAY
Students coming to class on Friday can wear Friday Dress (SCC t-shirt, tennis shoes, & school bottoms). Name tags required.

Virtual Learning Agreement
In order to participate in online class sessions, all parents and students must sign the Online Learning Agreement, regardless of their instructional selection (i.e. traditional or virtual.) Mrs. Creppel will be sending out separate agreements for parents and students in an email Friday morning. These completed forms must be submitted electronically by Monday, August 31 at 8am. Parents of more than 1 child at SCC will only have to complete one form, but every student must complete his/her own form.

Firm in Faith Friday
In last week's Firm in Faith Friday, we prayed a rosary together, meditating on the Sorrowful Mysteries. It was a beautiful afternoon.

Prayer Book of Petitions
If you'd like for us to pray for you or for your special intentions here at SCC, we're extending our Prayer Book of Petitions to the community this year! To add yourself or your intention to the book, simply fill out this form. You can choose for the intention to remain private or anonymous if you prefer. We'd love the opportunity to pray together even when we aren't together!

Letterman Ceremony
The letterman jackets arrived and we will continue with the plan to present on Thursday, September 3 at 7PM in the football stadium. Each student-athlete and spirit group member will receive 2 tickets to the ceremony. Our agenda includes performances by our spirit groups. SCC students may enter student ID or school issued name tag.

Please be sure to have your own sharpened pencils, pens, highlighters and notebooks each day at school. We are discouraging the sharing of any supplies. Please be sure to charge your device every night at home.

Introduction to Petrochemical I & II: Parent & Student Meeting

Monday, August 31, 2020, 6 p.m. in the Commons

River Parish Community College (RPCC) and St. Charles Catholic High School (SCC) have established a strategic alliance to enrich academic programming in order to enhance college and career readiness for our high school students. The proximity to industry along the Mississippi River is also a driving force behind this alliance.

“The petrochemical industry is a complex industry that affects all spheres of life. Most items used in everyday life such as plastic products and soaps owe their existence to petrochemicals. The petrochemical industry connects downstream sectors such as pharmaceuticals with the upstream oil and gas industry.” (Essays, UK. November 2018. Petrochemical Industry Introduction To Chemical Engineering Assignment Engineering Essay.)

Beginning with school year 2020-2021, SCC is entering into a full dual enrollment partnership with RPCC in order to benefit our students. Additional opportunities to support college planning and preparation include college campus tours, industry tours, meeting with admissions department staff, parent workshops and engaging in RPCC student outreach events. These partnership opportunities are intended to benefit our students. The students will also earn the Basic Orientation Plus (BOP) Certification from the Safety Council through RPCC at no additional cost to the student. The value of this training is $45.00 per student.

All of these items will be presented and discussed at the upcoming parent meeting on August 31, 2020.

Cafeteria News

Due to the Blended Schedule , we understand that students would still like to receive school breakfast and or lunch on the days they are not at school. Therefore the Archdiocese School Food Service will offer a grab and go meal at the end of the day for students to take home for the following day of at home learning. If your child is not currently receiving free or reduced meal benefits, the meal cost will be charged to your child's account.

We encourage everyone to apply for free or reduced lunch at and click on the link " Click Here to Apply for Reduced/Free Lunch"

Any student who would like to purchase lunch for the day that s/he is not on campus, please let the cafeteria ladies know at lunch. Once you place your order for a lunch, you must pick it up immediately after dismissal and before leaving campus.
