News from Campus & General Announcements

Teacher's Appreciation Week

We'd like to thank everyone who helped make Teacher's Appreciation Week so special for our amazing faculty! Our Comet parents, along with ACE Hardware and Romaguera Photography, made sure that our teachers were treated with goodie bags and yard signs yesterday.

We'd also like to thank the Beta Club for sending out their appreciation through SCC postcards not only to all the teachers but also to the office staff, janitorial staff, and administrators! They also recently sent postcards to all SCC alumni and parents who work in healthcare. Thank you, Beta Club!

We're so proud of the educators and staff at SCC. They are true leaders that never fail to guide and inspire our students and create true community within our school. If you haven't done so yet, please consider sending a message of thanks to these awesome individuals this week!

Head over to the St. Charles Catholic Facebook page to see Junior Luke Boucvalt's "SCC Rap" in honor of Teacher's Appreciation Week. This original song was written, performed, shot, and edited by Luke, and we're overwhelmed by the creativity and care he put into this project. Thank you, Luke!

Special Recognition for Mr. Shawn Madere

We'd like to congratulate one of our teachers, Shawn Madere, for being nominated by a student for the Nicholl's State University "You Made a Difference" Award. Each year, outstanding students who plan to attend Nicholls in the Fall are invited to nominate the teacher who has "made the most lasting impression on their life." Mr. Madere teaches Physical Science and Physics at SCC, and we're so proud that he's being recognized in this special way!

We're excited to offer our seniors these traditions with a twist! This year—YOUR year—we bear the cross of the Covid-19 pandemic together. We will show the world that there is a light that will overcome the darkness, and there is no darkness, and no virus, that can overcome the light that is inside each one of you. Your light will shine in each of these opportunities to celebrate the class of 2020!

Comets, Keep It Up!

Flying high and shining bright, the Comets are keeping up with their lessons and more during distance learning!

This week's featured projects and lessons are all from the Fine Arts Department! We love to see our creative Comets at work, and we also love to see how much the community supports them.

This week, our SCC Stagehands received a generous donation from River Parish Community Theatre members Darryl Clement and Mona Roussel as the Stagehands continue to prepare for their production of Hello, Dolly!

Thank you RPCT! What a blessing!
Art: Mrs. Robyn Denny's art students complete portraits every year as part of their extensive creative portfolios, so during distance learning, the students have continued to master their artistic skills from home! Check out their incredible work! Great job, Comets!

While they may not be in front of a crowd, Mrs. Greer Millet's Theatre students aren't missing any chances to perform. For their acting lessons, Mrs. Millet had students create selfies that illustrate emotions and reactions. Enjoy these images submitted by the talented SCC Stagehands!
