Dr. Millet Update (3/30/20)

SCC Remote Online Learning
Dear Comets,

We hope you are all doing well and staying safe during this crazy time with COVID-19. Our remote online learning is going well! Our teachers and students are beyond amazing! Thank you for being on task and adapting so well. We appreciate your flexibility and great work ethic. There was so much teaching and learning taking place in our classes today!

On another note, it appears as though we will be continuing with remote online learning until April 30. Unfortunately, we will have to postpone all special events for the month of April. However, our intention is to reschedule ALL of our special events to take place during the month of May. Our hope is that we return on May 1 to a month full of special events at SCC!

Please know that God is with us, and He is faithful. Please join us for our live Mass tomorrow at 3 p.m. via our SCC facebook page. May you stay safe and well!

Miss you Comets!

Courtney Millet

Fr. David Ducote, our school Chaplain, will be celebrating a live Mass at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday from our St. Charles Catholic High School Chapel. Please join us in prayer as a Comet Community as we continue our Lenten season and come together in prayer for one another at this difficult time. Our online school wide Mass will begin at 3 p.m. via our SCC facebook page.
Let’s continue to stay connected Comets!

Class Schedule and Teacher Office Hours
Please consult the schedule above for times that our courses are taking place on Monday and Wednesday. Parents, please make sure your teenager is up and ready to go every morning M-Th at 9 a.m. Please note that Tuesdays and Thursdays have been reserved for remote office hours for teachers. At that time, teachers are available either through email or online sessions (with a partner teacher) to answer any student questions or tutor a student who may need extra help with understanding lessons, assignments, etc. Students need to make sure to check their Google Classrooms and emails from each of their teachers. Some courses are meeting in online sessions, while others are having notes or pre-recorded videos posted in Google Classroom with their assignments.

Distance Learning Guidelines
Our goal is for students to continue with their education until we all return to campus together. Our students have been doing great following the guidelines. Please be reminded that cell phones should be off during all live sessions. Student workspace should be a quiet space, but not a bed. Remember to wear an SCC t-shirt during live sessions. Students should be prepared for class and respectful during all classes. Students' mics should be off unless otherwise directed by the teacher.

Exams & Third Nine Weeks Report Cards
Most exams have been completed and are now being submitted by teachers; therefore, we are beginning the report card process. We hope to have report cards emailed to our students and parents by April 3.

Registration for 2020-21
We are busy working remotely planning for next school year with regards to student schedules, staffing, and budgeting. We have extended our registration period at $425 until today at midnight tonight, March 30, 2020. We sincerely thank you for completing the registration. If you haven’t, please do so tonight so that our planning is as accurate as possible and your teenager is enrolled in the classes that he/she requests for the upcoming school year. If you need us to resend the email with the registration link, please see contacts below for registration assistance. Thank you so much for your cooperation and support regarding registration for the 2020-2021 school year at SCC.
