Blue and Gold Day! The students will be allowed to dress down in their best blue and gold! Blue or gold T-shirts, blue or gold sweatpants, jeans, school appropriate tennis shoes, and blue and gold accessories.

CSW Poster Project! In CLC: The students will create a poster for CSW incorporating the theme of “We’ve Got the Faith!” The posters will be displayed in the gym and voted on! The class with the “best poster” will win Comet Cup points.

March for Life 2020

Thirty-three Comets are traveling to Washington DC this week as SCC's representatives for the March for Life, an annual protest against the legalization of abortion in America. These Comets will be traveling along with 615 other representatives from the Archdiocese of New Orleans, traveling by bus from January 21 to January 26. Please pray for all these pilgrims as they stand up for the right to life:

ACT Parent Nights

SCC is proud to offer ACT Parent Nights to our community in the coming weeks in order to assist Comet families in understanding ACT score reports, TOPS requirements, goal-setting, test strategies, and more! Join SCC's administration to get insights on how SCC is preparing your students for this important test. Dates for these grade-level meetings are listed below. In the days preceding your designated meeting, please also look for an email that will allow you to RSVP for your student's grade-level meeting.

Krewe De Charles Bal Masque XXXIII

St. Charles Catholic High School is proud to announce the Royal Court members of the Krewe de Charles Bal Masque XXXIII, “Arabian Nights”. The members of this year's court raised more than $17,000 for the school.

The annual carnival ball will be held on Saturday,
February 1 at 7pm in the school gymnasium.
Admission is $10. Student Admission is $5.

Devon Rucker: Eagle Scout

SCC Senior Devon Rucker recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America. This is a special honor, with only four percent of all scouts ascending to this place. Congratulations, Devon, and thanks for including the SCC courtyard in your Eagle Scout service project.

All-Academic Girls’ Basketball: Kelly Campbell Mallory Fernandez

The All-Academic 4.00 Scholar Team is composed of senior student-athletes who have attained the highest grade point averages from all classes/divisions in their specific sport.

These student-athletes will be recognized and honored during their sports’ state championships.

The academic and athletic accomplishments that these students have already achieved within our school and community reflect what we here at SCC and the LHSAA value, respect, and expect in our student-athletes.

As stated by the LHSAA, “Ambition, compassion and aptitude are the heart of the high school experience.”

St. Charles Catholic High School is proud to recognize these students for their hard work in the classroom as well as on the field and court.

Basketball

Congratulations to the Comet Boys’ Basketball Teams on their victories this past weekend. The Comet Varsity Team defeated Covenant Christian 58-26 on Friday and Pope John Paul 76-44 on Saturday. The JV won their game as well. The 8th grade was victorious over Lutcher.

Congratulations to the boys basketball teams for their victories over Pope John Paul last night. The J.V. and varsity continue to roll against their opponents, and our varsity improved their record to 16-9 with the victory. Come out and support our guys this Friday night when they host Berwick High School. J.V. will begin at 5:00 followed by Varsity.


Starsteppers News

Congratulations to the Starsteppers for placing 1st in kick and 2nd in pom in their division. They also placed 3rd overall for their kick routine. Way to fly high and shine bright Starsteppers!

SCC Stagehands News

SCC Stagehands were awarded a $500 grant by River Region Arts and humanities Council for the upcoming Spring production of "Hello, Dolly!"

SCHOOL INFORMATION & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Spring Sports Mass
There will be a mass held for our spring sport coaches and athletes on Sunday, February 9th at 5:30PM at St. Joan of Arc Church in LaPlace. This will be their regular Sunday afternoon mass, but our spring sports athletes and coaches will receive a special blessing at this mass. Please relay this message to your athletes and their parents so they can plan to attend.

FaithActs Summer Youth Theology Institute
Please encourage students to register for the FaithActs Summer Theology Institute held on June 15-19, 2020. It is only $100.00 this year and they can earn 3 college credits or 50 hours of service. Please click here to register.

FCA will meet on Thursday this week at 6:30PM.

Affirmation Off-Campus Lunch
Students who earned an orange affirmation card during the second nine weeks of school have earned an off-campus lunch. You can pick up a permission slip in the rack across from the front office. The signed permission slips are due, with the card stapled to it, by Tuesday, February 4th at 7:30AM.

Carnival Ball Tickets
Krewe de Charles Ball Masque XXXIII tickets are now on sale in the front office. Tickets for students are $5. Tickets for the general public are $10.

Lost and Found
Please check the Lost and Found located in the office for lost items. We have many sweatshirts, lunch kits, shoes, etc.

Pulse Submissions
Calling all Creative Comets, Pulse Submissions are open! This year we are doing a special Double Issue. All the best submissions from this year & last year will be published together. See the Creative Writing Club Google Classroom or the flyers around school for details.

Balfour
Any junior or senior who did not order with Balfour but would like to do so can call the Metairie location ((504)833-7330) to order a ring or graduation announcements until January 24, 2020. Balances should be paid directly to Balfour by April. Please check your receipt or call their office.

Chapel Thursdays
Campus Ministry is now offering Chapel Thursdays at lunch from 12:20-12:35. Please join us for prayer and reflection every Thursday. Take a break from your busy schedule to get spiritually recharged and renewed by the love of God and His presence. ALL students are welcomed! Chapel Thursdays will consists of scripture readings, Christian music, and quiet time. After you eat lunch, come spend some time with Jesus.
