Weekly Update 10/18/21
The Varsity team competed in Chalmette on Saturday, October 16. The team lost 3 hard fought battles with Chalmette, Thibodaux and Ben Franklin. The Lady Comets returned home to Comet gym on Tuesday, October 19 for their final district match against Patrick Taylor. The Varsity played a heart-pounding 5 game match but were
victorious by scores of 25-27, 25-14, 23-25, 25-15, and 17-15. Team leaders were Mya Brown with 15 kills and 2 solo blocks, Madison Hebert added 11 kills, 4 solo blocks, and 6 service aces. Morgan Nuccio had 4 kills, Sydney Remondet, Haley Scioneaux, and Sarah Beth Sirmon with 2 kills each, and libero Camryn Triche with 3 kills. Defensively, the team had 18 digs. Sarah Beth Sirmon had a match high with 28 assists and added 5 service aces. The JV team took the first game easily by a score of 25-8 and won game 2 - 25-22; their overall record is 3-3.
On Wednesday, October 20 the JV and Varsity took on Riverside at Comet gym. The JV won by scores of 25-15 and 25-20 giving them a 4-3 record. The varsity won in four games. After losing the first game 25-27, the Comets came back and won 3 straight by scores of 25-11, 25-9, and 25-20. There were 13 service
aces for the match. Mya Brown led with 16 kills and 5 solo blocks, Madison Hebert added 8 kills, 3 service aces, and 1 solo block. Morgan Nuccio had 4 kills, 2 service aces, and 4 digs; Sarah Beth Sirmon had 22 assists, 2 kills, and 3 service aces. Haley Scioneaux and Sydney Remondet each added a kill plus Haley had 2 service aces. Camryn Triche received the Sacrament of Confirmation and Hannah Brady moved from defensive specialist to libero for the match where she had 7 digs and 3 service aces.
