The End of the Road

It was a sad day for the 2013 Comet softball team. The Comets were paired up with defending state champs, Buckeye, in the quarterfinals this past Friday. On the mound for the last time for SCC was senior Chelsea Loupe. The Comets scored when Jessica Mire got on by a walk and Destiny Wesley hit a double. This was the only run in this ballgame for the girls. Great season Lady Comets!

The Comets are Heading Back to Sulphur

On Friday April 19, the Comets traveled to the 23 seeded  Patterson to play for a trip to Sulphur for the 9th consecutive year. The game was wrapped up in 5 innings due to the 10 run run rule. The Comets posted a shut out. Chelsea Loupe recorded her second consecutive shutout, allowing no runs over five complete innings. She allowed two hits while walking two and striking out six. 

At the plate, Destiny Wesley went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs for SCC. Cori Millet went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Karli Terrio also went 3 for 4 with a double, and Jessica Mire and Morgan Nobile each went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. “We knew Patterson came from a tough district, so we weren’t about to take them lightly,” said Loupe. “Getting back to Sulphur was our ultimate goal. We’ve finally done that, and now we’re moving on to our next goal.” The Comets will face the number 2 seed, Buckeye on Friday at 12:00. Good luck Comets and take it home!

Comets Fly Past Farmervill

Karli Terrio went 3 for 3 at the plate and Chelsea Loupe Pithed a perfect three inning game on Monday against the 26 seed, Farmerville, in a Class 3A bi-district round playoff game. The game ended after three innings due to the 15 run-rule. The Comets, who are now 20-6, scored 13 runs in the bottom of the third inning to finish the game, sending 17 batters to the plate.

"I feel like we're really coming together. We've been working extremely hard over the past week and i think it'll pay off for us going forward,"  said Terrio.

"You never know what to expect in a game like this," said coach Ty Monica. "You're not sure how your team will respond, if they'll have jitters...then you don't know about the other team, given they're form the Monroe area. It took us a little while to get going, but Chelsea help them intact. She only pitched to nine batters today, which is always good to see."

After Terrio singled to lead off the game, Jessica Mire doubled to deep left to put the Comets ahead 1-0. Destiny Wesley then drove her in after Mire stole third to make it 2-0. In the third, Terrio collected an infield single, Mire walked and Loupe singled to load the bases. Wesley got on by an error on the shortstop and two runs scored to make it 4-0. Emily Triche singled home the teams fifth run. Franklington's defense then had three consecutive errors which pushed the score to 8-0. Terrio singled home Morgan Nobile to make it 9-0. Mire singled her second RBI of the day to make it 10-0. Cori Millet, Paige Williams and Megan Ruiz each singled home runs to close things out, Ruiz' single to left assured the win. 

The Comets will play away at Patterson for their second round play off game this friday at 5:00. Good luck!

Comets Win on Senior day

The final game of the regular season was held on Monday, April 5, at SCC against 1-A powerhouse Central Catholic. The Comets started out slow scoring no runs through 6 innings.Central earned a run in the 7th from an out the park home run. The Comets were determined to make a late rally.The Comets registered three consecutive hits the final one by Emily Triche a game-winning single that plated Destiny Wesley to give The Comets a 2-1 victory.The Comets final record is 19-6 earning them 7th seed in the playoff brackets. They will host Farmerville on Monday at  5 p.m.. Cost is $6 at the gate for everyone. The bracket is linked below. Good luck Comets!

Comets Defeat E.d. White By Two

The Comets finished district play with a big win against the Cardinals. On the mound for SCC was Chelsea Loupe. The Comets offensive runs came when Karli Terrio reached base on a walk, and Destiny Wesley hit her in. Wesley had two RBI's that game. Coach Ty says that his team took a step in the right direction. They do however need to work on pushing runs across. Loupe did a great job on the mound allowing 0 runs.  

The Comets Rack Up Another 15 Run Rule

On April 2 SCC traveled to Vacherie for a second round district game against the Wildcats. The game ended in 4 innings due to the 15 run rule. Chelsea loupe threw the first two innings, Brittany Lambert came in the third, and Tiffany Miller finished it off it the fourth. This game was a confidence boost for the Comets after their tough loss to riverside on the previous Monday.

Comets Bounce Back

SCC had bounced back from a loss to Brusly with a 4-3 win over South Beauregard Saturday, March 30. Chelsea Loupe was on the Mound for SCC. Destiny Wesley went 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's. Cori Millet went 3 for 3 with the game winning RBI. Loupe went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Destiny Wesley hit in the first run for the Comets after Karli Terrio reached base. Terrio reached third base on a steal and Wesley hit her in with a single. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Cori Millet hit a shot to left field hitting in the winning run. Way to go Comets!

Brusly At SCC

On March 28, the Comets had a chance to get revenge on the Panthers. After the tough first round loss, the team was looking forward to coming out on top. Unfortunately the game did not go as planned for the Comets. Brusly first scored off of a Comet error. It was not a good day for the Comet offense scoring no runs. Chelsea Loupe pitched all 7 innings. The final score was 6-0. Get em' next time girls!

Comets Pound The Pelicans

On Tuesday, the Comets traveled to Port Allen to play in second round of district play. The girls 15 run ruled them making the game only 3 innings. The final score was 17-0. Chelsea Loupe pitched the three innings allowing 0 hits and 0 walks. Great Job Comets! The Lady Comets will be back in action on Thursday, March 28 against Brusly to have a chance at co-district champs. Pack the stands Comet fans! 

Tough Loss to Parkview 

This past Saturday on March 23, The Comets faced a 3A competitor, Parkview Baptist. The Eagles scored first off of a Comet error making the score 1-0. In the 6th inning, the Lady Comets fought back. Karli Terrio led off the inning with a triple to left field, Paige Williams got a walk but then got out on a steal attempt, and Chelsea Loupe hit a home-run over the left field fence to give the Comets a one point lead. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be enough. In the top of the 8th, the Eagles scored two more runs. The final score was 3-2. Loupe was on the mound for all 8 innings.  


The Lady Comets ten run ruled Maurepas, a 1A school, on Thursday March 21. Chelsea Loupe pitched the first 3 innings, and Brittany Lambert threw the rest of the game, which lasted 5 innings. Destiny Wesley hit in the game ending runs.   

The Comets Cream The Cardinals

On Tuesday March 19, The Lady Comets played host E.D. White. On the mound for SCC for all seven innings was Chelsea Loupe.  The girls started off strong in the first inning scoring 2 runs and allowing 0 for the opposing team who is a district rival. It was the last inning that assured the victory for the Comets when they scored 5 more runs. The final score was 9-6. Good job girls!

Comets Get a Pair of Wins at the Lutcher Tournament 

This past weekend, the Comets played three games at Lutcher High School's annual baseball and softball tournament. The Comets opened up with a 11-2 loss to Lutcher, but finished with a 6-5 win over Ursuline, and a 5-4 win over Ellender. Coach Ty said that the weekend performance wasn't representative of his teams best softball, but he'd take the two victories. 

In the Ellender game, Karli Terrio went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored. Paige Williams went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and 2 runs scored. Chelsea Loupe was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two doubles. Destiny Wesley went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Loupe earned the win on the mound allowing 4 runs on 7 hits and 5 walks. She struck out 10.

For the previous games, Loupe hit in the game winning hit for the second time this season in extra innings versus Ursuline. "The previous inning she gave up a home run, and luckily, she got a chance to redeem herself." said Monica. 

Comets crush St. James

Last Thursday the Comets easily defeated  St. James in 6 innings with a final score of 12-0.  Brittany Lambert pitched the whole game.  The Comets were trying to prepare themselves for the three games they would play at the Lutcher tournament.


On Tuesday March 11, the Comets played their rival, the Brusly Panthers.  On the mound for the Comets for all eight innings was Chelsea Loupe. The Comets started off slow in the first inning with three stike-outs, and Brusly scored a run.  As the game went on, the Comets fought and scored three runs. Senior Megan Ruiz hit in two of those runs.  The girls held the Panthers 3-1 until the bottom of the eighth when Brusly came back  and scored three to end the game. Coach Ty said, “I am very proud of this team. They played a great game and ‘gave an 11’.” The Lady Comets will get to face them again in the second round of district here at SCC on March 28. Comets Go 3 for 3 in the St. Amant Tournament

This past weekend was quite a successful one for the Lady Comet softball team. Chelsea Loupe started on the mound for all three games. Brittany Lambert finished off the last two. On Friday March 8 at 4:00, the team faced a tough 1-A opponent, False River. The Comets came out on top in the 7th inning after Chelsea Loupe hit a home-run with Karli Terrio on base. The final score was 5-4. 

The following day the girls went up against two 5-A schools, H.L. Bourgeois and Zachary High School. The lady comets came out firing in both games nearly 10 run ruling H.L. Bourgeois with a final score of 9-2, and deafeating Zachary 8-2. Coach Ty Monica said, "We played extremely well defense. I was impressed at how every time the other team challenged us, we responded and stepped it up. Different people came up with a clutch hit every now and then. We took a step in the right direction." 

The Comets will travel to rival Brusly on Tuesday March 12 in a district game. Good luck Comets!

3-0 In District

The Lady Comets achieved another 15 run rule against Port Allen on Thursday march 7 on Comet field. The Comets overall record is now 6-1. In the third inning, Cori Millet and Lexi Musso were on base when Senior Megan Ruiz hit a ball to the left field fence and got a home-run out of it. The Comets were up by 12 runs, and this hit ended the game.  Chelsea Loupe was on the mound for the first inning, and Brittany Lambert Pitched the final 2. Nice job girls! The team will be participating in a St. Amant tournament this weekend. Good luck Comets!

The Start Of District

The Comets hosted Donaldsonville in a double header on Tuesday March 5. Both games went to the top of the third because the Comets managed to 15 run rule the Tigers. Chelsea Loupe pitched the first game, and started off the second. Brittany Lambert threw the second inning of the second game, and Tiffany Miller finished it in the third. Awesome job ladies! The girls will play another district game here at SCC on Thursday against the Port allen Pelicans. 

Comets Defeat Doyal

This past Saturday on March 2, the Lady Comets hosted Doyal High School. The Comets did extremely well and 15 run ruled them in 4 innings. On the Mound for SCC was Chelsea Loupe walking allowing one hit and one walk. Brittany Lambert threw the last inning. Way to go Comets! Their next two games are on Tuesday March 5. The girls will be playing a double-header versus Donaldsonville. These are their first district games. Come out and support!

 Let The Win Streak Begin

On Thursday, February 28, the Comets went on the road to face an unknown opponent that they have not faced in four years, Pope John Paul. The girls came out firing in the first inning scoring 4 runs. The Comets took off from there and ten run ruled PJP by the fifth inning. The Final score was 14-1. Chelsea Loupe pitched the first 2 innings, Brittany Lambert took on the next two, and Tiffany Miller finished the game off in the fifth. Senior Hope Madere said, "We played really well and with our next few games we have a chance to get nice win streak going. I'm excited to see us continue to get better throughout the remain of the season." Way to go Comets! The ladies will compete again this Saturday vs. Doyle at SCC. It is their first official home game so everyone should come out and support!

Victory for the Comets

The lady Comets traveled across the lake to compete against Hannan on Tuesday. On the mound for the Comets was Chelsea Loupe. This was a game full of high emotions and excitement. The Comets were losing throughout the entire game with a score of 2-1 until the seventh inning when they came back and scored two runs. Scoring the run that tied the game was Freshmen Pinch runner Morgan Nobile and scoring the winning run was Senior Karli Terrio, who was hit in by Chelsea Loupe. Emily Triche and Chelsea Loupe each went 2 for 4. Congrats Comets! They will travel to Slidell on Thursday the 28 to play Pope John Paul. Their next home game will be the following Saturday. Go Comets!

First Game of the Season

On Wednesday February 20, the Comets traveled to Covington, a 4-A school.  This was a very tough loss for the team considering they have never been 0-1 before.  The final score was 4-1. The Comets made a few mistakes, which gave the Covington Lions 3 of their 4 runs.  Scoring for SCC was Destiny Wesley after hitting a double and being hit in by senior Cori Millet. On the mound was Senior Chelsea Loupe.  Karli Terrio went 3 for 4 on base.  “We are definitely struggling offensively, but we can only get stronger from here. We won’t take no for an answer from here on out,” said Chelsea loupe.  The Comets are scheduled to host their annual tournament this weekend, but due to the weather, that may not take place. The girls will certainly be back in action next Tuesday the 25 at Archbishop Hannan. 

The Jamboree

On Saturday February 16, the Comets hosted their jamboree. They ended in a tie against Destrehan 2-2 in the first game of the day at 8:00 am. Chelsea Loupe pitched the first three inning game.  The ladies beat Doyal 6-0 in the final game, which started for 3:00 pm. Junior Brittany lambert threw the first inning, Loupe threw the second, and sophomore Tiffany Miller finished it off in the third. The Comets will play on Wednesday February 20 in their first real game at Covington for 3:30. The team has never gone 0-1 before and they don’t plan on starting now. 


The scrimmage vs. the Vandebilt terriors was played here at SCC. It was definitely an improvement from the Dutchtown scrimmage. They hit better and did not allow many runs.  Senior third basemen Karli Terrio said, “We played much more focused for this scrimmage than the one before, but we still have a lot of room for improvement. Now we have to get ourselves ready for our first game against Covington.”

The start of a New Season

The girls’ softball season is underway after a scrimmage Saturday against 5-A power Dutchtown. . The Comets are a fairly experienced team this year losing only 4 starters, which made this Saturday's performance disappointing. The girls did not compete to the best of their ability having only 2 hits. One of the hits was by junior shortstop Emily Triche, and the other by senior pitcher Chelsea Loupe. Head Coach Ty Monica said, “We have a lot of work to do and I can assure you we will get better physically. Some players are not fully committed to a position and our mind-set needs to be adjusted."  The Lady Comets host Vandebilt Catholic in another scrimmage on Thursday, February 7, at 3:30.
