Comets shutout Mangham, advance to regionals

The Comets won big against Mangham on April 18, in a bi-district game. The Comets beat the Dragons in three innings with a score of 15-0. The Lady Comets were led at the plate by Megan Louque who went 2 for 2 with two home runs and 4 RBIs. Katie Terrio also went 2 for 2 with two doubles and 3 RBIs. Lead off hitter Kati Duhe went 3 for 4 with two singles, a double, and 2 RBIs. The next opponent that Comets face will be announced on April 20. 

Bi-District Playoffs 

The 7th seeded Lady Comets start playoffs today, April 18, at 4:00 against the 26th seeded Mangham Dragons. Come out and support the Comets at Comet Field! 

Comets Beat Covington 3-2

On April 12, the Lady Comets defeated Covington on Comet Field. The Lady Comets had a tough swinging game with 11 strikeouts. Jaymie Remondet started the scoring for the Comets with a home run. Raven Becnel ended the game with a walk-off home run in the 9th inning. The score of the game was 3-2. 

Comets Win Big 

On April 11, the Lady Comets beat  Mt. Carmel 14-2. Jaymie Remondet went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two singles and also brought in 2 runs. Raven Becnel also went 4 for 4 with three singles and a home run. Megan Louque also hit a home run and two singles. 

Comets Defeat Haynes Again  

The Lady Comets defeated Haynes at Comet Field on April 7. It was a big defeat for the Comets winning 10-0. Kati Duhe had 2 hits and brought in 2 runs. Katie Terrio, Kati Duhe, Megan Louque, and Raven Becnel all hit doubles. The  Comets ended the game in 4 innings. 

Riverside defeats Comets 
On April 5, the Lady Comets lost to Riverside 3-1. Emily Triche hit a double and was brought in by Katie Terrio. Unfortunately that was the only run for the Comets. 

Lady Comets Defeat District Opponent  

On March 29, the Lady Comets defeated McGehee in three innings with a score of 16-0. In the second inning the Comets scored 8 runs. Junior Raven Becnel hit her first home run of the season and brought in two runs. The Lady Comets played very good defense, and they did not give up any runs against McGehee. The Comets scored 8 more runs in the third inning and ended the game. 

 Comets Beat Haynes 

After the Comets lost two district games, they had to step up and make a comeback. They played Haynes on March 21, and won 15-0. The Comets jumped off on top by scoring 6 runs in the first inning. The next inning the Comets continued to get hits and score three more runs. The Comets didn't allow Haynes to score any runs on them, and Megan Louque struck out 5 batters. In the fourth inning Megan Louque and Emily Triche both hit doubles. Katie Terrio, Heather Orillion, Raven Becnel, and Cori Millet all got hits that same inning. 

Comets Return to Winning 

The Comets played in the Lutcher Tournament on March 18th and 19th. Looking for a win, they defeated Berwick, East St. John, and Ursuline. The Comets played very well against these teams. On the 18th the Comets beat Berwick 8-0. The following day the Comets beat East St. John 18-3 and then Ursuline 14-7. Megan Loque pitched all three games. 

Lady Comets Lose Two District Games 

The Lady Comets lost two tough district games against Riverside and John Curtis. On March 15, the Lady Comets were defeated by the John Curtis Patriots 4-3. The game was tied 3-3 going into the last inning, but the Patriots hit a double bringing in the winning run. 

Then on March 17,  the Lady Comets had to face their district rival, Riverside, but failed to beat them this time around. The Rebels started off on top by scoring three runs in the first three innings. At the Comets last bat, they rallied and scored two runs  but it was not enough to defeat the Rebels.  

Comets defeat McGehee

On March 10, 2011 the Lady Comets defeated McGehee in a district game 10-0. Starting pitcher, Megan Louque finished the game with a total of 10 strikeouts. Megan Louque lead the Comets with 3 RBIs. Following was Emily Triche with 2 RBIs. Raven Becnel hit a double allowing Katie Duhe and Megan Louque to score. Megan advances her record to 7-1. The Comets will play another district game tomorrow, away against John Curtis. Good Luck Comets!

Big Win Against Lutcher 

On Wednesday, March 1st, the Lady Comets traveled to Lutcher for an intense rivalry game. The Lady Bulldogs led the game 2-0 until the fifth inning. Emily Triche scored the first run for the Comets in the 5th inning on an RBI by Kati Duhe. Down by one run in the top of the seventh, Triche got the Comet rally going with another single. The next batter, Jessica Mire, hit a single advancing Triche to 2nd base. Kati Duhe came to bat with two outs, and got on base by a Bulldog error. Two runs scored giving the Comets a 3-2 lead. Karli Terrio hit a single to score Kati Duhe for the fourth run. The final score was 4-2. 

Megan Louque was the winning pitcher, raising her record to a perfect 5-0. The Comets overall record is now 5-0. All five wins have come on the road. The Comets' home opener against Parkview Baptist is on Thursday, March 3rd, at 4 p.m. 

Comets Win SCC/McGehee Tournament

The Lady Comets dominated the SCC/McGehee Tournament by beating all three opponents. The Comets won 15-0 against Chapelle, and then defeated Riverdale 13-1 on Friday, March 25th. The following day the Lady Comets continued the winning streak by defeating South Lafourche 15-0.  

Comets to Start Off with a Win on the Road

On Tuesday, February 22nd, the Lady Comets came out with a victory against the Covington Lions. The Lady Comets won 2-0. The two runs were scored  by Katie Terrio and Heather Orillion. Megan Louque, the Comet's starting pitcher, had 5 strikeouts. The Lady Comets will combine with McGehee to host a tournament in New Orleans this coming weekend
