Student Retreats

2024-2025 School Theme

Class Retreats

As a Catholic school, the grade-level retreats at St. Charles Catholic High School provide our students with an opportunity to develop a better sense of their self, to build relationships with others, and to grow closer with God. At the beginning of the year retreats, the students spend the day filled with creative activities, group discussions, quiet time, and personal prayer. They are introduced to the theme for this school year, which for 2024-2025, comes from 1 Corinthians 16:14 "Let all that you do be done in love."   Students will be reminded of the theme at the school masses held each month.  Our retreats promote a spirit of community, and they are led by SCC faculty members and SCC senior retreat team members.

8th-11th graders must report to their designatied retreat location.   The class retreats are required and count as a day of school.

Locations

Typically, retreat locations are as follows:

  • EIGHTH GRADE and FRESHMEN will be located at SCC.
  • JUNIORS will be located at First Baptist Church: 120 Ormond, LaPlace (across from SCC).
  • SOPHOMORES will be located at St. Joan of Arc Family Life Center (Gym), LaPlace.
  • SENIORS only senior Retreat team members will be participating in retreat day activities. Our remaining seniors are encouraged to use this day to complete their service hours if not done so already.

in the past, some of the activities have included ice breakers, writing letters to their future selves, and times of meditation. The Retreat Team makes sure sure that they are engaged with their skits, faith-related talks, and games to keep them interested.
