  • Ducktails & Bobby Sox: A Fabulous Fifties Musical

SCC Stagehands musical is Ducktails and Bobbysocks - a rocking 1950’s musical. The play will take place at St. John Theatre in March. Tickets are $10.

The overall goal is to promote live theatre among our students. The young people of today search for inspiration in a world in which other media awaits them.  Live theatre is as important as ever in a world full of iPhones, iPads, and Facebook.  As active theatre participants rather than as passive watchers of social media, we can feed the mind, hold fast the attention, and refresh the human spirit.

Theatre projects develop and nurture a joy and love for the performing arts.  According to the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, the positive effects of theatre education on high school students’ academic achievement is significant.  In fact, the American Alliance for Theatre sites studies that show “In addition to having higher standardized test scores than their peers who do not experience the arts, students who participate in drama often experience improved reading comprehension, maintain better attendance records, and stay generally more engaged in school than their non-arts counterparts.”

SCC Stagehands

  • The SCC Stagehands is open to all students who enjoy theatre. Its mission is to encourage students to experience various performing arts and support student participation in theatrical activities. The club meets a few times a quarter. Students are expected to participate in club fundraisers for the major Spring Production actively. Its members may be called upon to help with the yearly school production (in March) and actively participate in any fundraisers. The motto of the SCC Stagehands is "there is a place for everyone in the theatre." Membership dues ($10/$5) secure a student's place in the club, and an optional T-shirt is available to order. Any student interested in joining the Stagehands for the school year should stop by the book rack outside the main office to pick up a Membership Application.
