Melanie P. Lohfink, English Teacher
A 1998 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School, Lohfink is in her eighteenth year of teaching for her alma mater after earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of New Orleans in 2002.  She teaches English III Honors, English IV Honors, and Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, and outside of the classroom, she is Student Council sponsor and serves as co-chair of the English Department. Concerning the unique qualities of SCC, Lohfink asserts, "Teachers at SCC truly get to know their students: their names, their faces, their personalities. We support them in our classrooms, at athletic events, or on the stage. We celebrate their dreams and their futures." She feels extremely blessed that she can share her love of literature in the same building where her love for English was fostered. She enjoys sharing her love of great literature so that her students can broaden their scope of thinking and writing skill to lead them to develop talents and skills necessary for success beyond the Red Room (her classroom). Mrs. Lohfink lives in LaPlace with her husband Gerard and their children Lily and Liam.
