Academic Games is a competition team in which players win by out thinking each other in mathematics (equations & on-sets), language arts (propaganda), and social studies (presidents and current events) games. SCC students compete individually and as a team against other students from schools in the New Orleans area. We attend five local tournaments each year, and qualify students are chosen to represent SCC at Nationals in the spring. Academic Games is an extracurricular activity open to all students. 2018-2019 was the first school year in which SCC students competed. Samantha Defrancesch, Allison Powell, Maggie Powell, and Erin Powell placed in the top 15 of the New Orleans Academic Games League, and qualified to attend Nationals in Orlando in April 2019. Their team placed 5th in the National Propaganda Tournament for the Junior Division.
Practices are held Wednesday after school at 4:30pm. For more information, contact Mrs. Connie Powell @ email@example.com or (985) 652-2809.
