Welcome To St. Charles Catholic

  • As the principal of St. Charles Catholic High School, it is with a tremendous sense of joy that I write the welcome letter to all of you. Here, at our online community, you will discover the many ways in which St. Charles Catholic High School is unique among secondary schools in the River Parishes.

We are excited and thank you for taking the first step in learning about our spiritual life, academic institution, sporting successes, and our committed faculty and staff. With only a few clicks you can witness firsthand why and how St. Charles Catholic High School continues to progress as the spiritual and academic leader of the River Parishes.

In 1948, our school was formed in Destrehan, Louisiana, and in 1978 it moved to its current location in LaPlace. While many things have changed, the standard of excellence in education continues to grow as we move forward with technological advancements and the utilization of innovative teaching methods. Our students participate in a one-to-one MacBook/iPad program, utilize wireless technology in the classrooms, and incorporate best learning practices into homework assignments and projects.

Spiritually, our students participate in such activities as World Youth Day, the March for Life in Washington, D.C., as well as class retreats at the beginning of each school year. A dedicated team of senior students serves as a “Peer Ministry Team” to the feeder schools in the River Parishes, conducting spiritual retreats for those students in grades 5 through 8. Our students also participate in service opportunities within the community,  including Relay for Life, Vacation Bible schools, and food drives for the areas hit hardest by recent hurricanes.

I would like to extend an open invitation for you to visit our campus at any time to be witness to the great things that are happening within our classrooms, on our sporting fields, and in our greater St. Charles community. Our patron saint, St. Charles Borromeo, served as a proponent of education, and as such, is fitting for our school. Through his intercession we will continue to be successful.

In spite of the difficult circumstances brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic and the busiest hurricane season in history, our teachers, coaches, staff members,  and students continue to focus on excellence in teaching and learning.

Thank you again for your interest in St. Charles Catholic High School! Please check back often for Comet news and successes. May God bless you!

    Sincerely,

    Courtney P. Millet, Ph.D.

    Principal
