Welcome To Academics

  • St. Charles Catholic High School is primarily a college preparatory high school.  Academically, our goal is to give our students the tools they need to succeed and excel in college as it maintains and develops their Catholicity.  Our program is designed to challenge our students with a curriculum of academic rigor appropriate to their learning level.

SCC aligns its curriculum in accordance with the requirements of the State of Louisiana as stated in the BESE Bulletin 741. Standardized test scores are used to help guide curriculum offerings. Students have access to the program of studies when making their course requests. A course requirement checklist for meeting graduation and TOPS requirements is provided to students and parents. The checklist enables students and parents to have a clear picture of what is needed for graduation and to earn a TOPS scholarship. Students access the curriculum at one of four levels: Advanced Placement, Honors, Academic, or Standard. A student's placement level is based on standardized testing and performance in the classroom.

Thanks to a grant established by the Archdiocese office of Catholic schools, every student is provided with an iPad. Students are encouraged to use this technology to organize notes, write reports, complete lab reports and conduct research.  St. Charles Catholic High School is also on a complete wireless network.

Available learning opportunities abound at SCC thanks to our dedicated faculty and staff who make themselves available outside of classroom time. Teachers regularly make themselves available before school, during lunch, and after school for tutoring. It is the policy of the school that faculty and staff make time to meet with parents when parents request a conference.  Teachers and staff are also available via phone or email.

Every teacher, student and parent is given a webpage through the PlusPortals Internet system. This system allows students and parents to check grades and contact teachers.   Several teachers use Google Classroom to post assignments, quizzes and tests, and to make class announcements.

All students are eligible to be recognized for their academic achievement through our school's academic rewards program. We have three honor roll levels:  Principal's List - all A's, Alpha - more A's than B's and Beta - more B's than A's. Each quarter all students who make the honor roll are given an honor roll party where all are given treats and are eligible to win door prizes.

By passionately pursuing their studies, our Comets will fly high and shine bright.
