Student Council
The Student Council is an organization of official representatives elected by the students to serve the school and the student body. It is the most important student organization, and the respect, understanding, and cooperation of students, faculty, and staff are needed in order for it to function effectively. The Student Council is led by a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer. These officers, the senior class officers, and the club moderators comprise the Executive Board. Homeroom representatives represent students. Student Council members are elected by their peers. The Student Council is responsible for school dances and many other school activities.
Class representatives must maintain a 2.5 GPA, and class officers/executive board members. All are required participate in school and club-sponsored activities; advocate for students; plan and execute pep rallies, Catholic Schools week, Homecoming week, etc.
The purpose shall be:
- To promote democratic principles in the youth of today;
- To provide a liaison between students and administration;
- To promote school spirit and student participation in high school activities;
- To provide a forum for student expression;
- To develop leadership skills in student leaders;
- To provide examples of positive, responsible, and helpful students for the SCC student body;
- To organize, to oversee, and to promote all activities associated with Homecoming;
- To encourage a positive climate within the school.
