Athletics

Athletics is an integral part of the total educational experience at St. Charles Catholic High School. The Comet athletic program is known statewide and beyond for producing extremely competitive athletic teams. The Comet athletic program has produced state champions in multiple sports, as well as state finalists, and teams that have advanced to state tournaments in their respective sports. The Comets are also well known for developing champions on and off the field.

More than 75 percent of St. Charles Catholic students find themselves participating in some type of athletic competition. SCC offers a total of 16 sports teams that students can participate in. Auxiliary groups like Cheerleaders, Starsteppers, and Drum Corp allow more students to participate in athletic activities. In addition, sporting events are an opportunity for the student body, alumni and parents to get together, forming bonds as they cheer for Comet victories.

Friday nights during football season offer an opportunity for more than 130 young men and women to experience the thrill of being under the Friday Night Lights. The "Comet Crazy" student section is highly visible at home games, usually wearing the same color shirts to celebrate and demonstrate the Comet Spirit.

Many Comet athletes receive post-season recognition for their accomplishments, being named to the All-River Parish, All-Metro, Clarion Herald, L'Observatuer and All-State teams. Equally as impressive is the number of athletes recognized on the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) All-Academic teams.Numerous Comet athletes have also gone on to compete and excel at the collegiate level.

All Comet athletes participate in off-season, in-season, and summer weightlifting and training programs.
